Kevin went on his first short-term mission trip with North Hills Church this summer. We were hesitant to let him go until we researched the team that would be in charge of them in Los Angeles. For one week, Kevin served the homeless community of Los Angeles working in soup kitchens, packing meals for homeless people, listening to the stories of the homeless, and taking them out to breakfast. It was a life-changing experience and, as Kevin reminded us, an opportunity he had prayed for since he was a little boy. He said what surprised him the most was talking with the people on the streets and finding out that they were mostly just like you and me but had some really bad breaks in life.
